FPC, namely Flexible Printed Circuit, is a type of circuit board that can be bent, folded, and wound at will. Fingerprint recognition FPC combines the fingerprint recognition module with FPC to form a fingerprint recognition system that is both flexible and powerful. It serves as a bridge connecting the fingerprint recognition module and the motherboard in smart devices, transmitting fingerprint information to the device for analysis and recognition.
Classified by the number of conductive copper foil layers, FPC can be divided into single – layer boards, double – layer boards, multi – layer boards, double – sided boards, etc. The 2 – layer fingerprint recognition FPC refers to a flexible printed circuit board with a two – layer conductive copper foil structure used for fingerprint recognition. Compared with single – layer boards, 2 – layer boards can achieve more complex circuit layouts and signal transmissions in a limited space, providing stronger support for fingerprint recognition modules.
Fingerprint recognition FPC can be divided into optical fingerprint modules, capacitive fingerprint modules, radio frequency fingerprint modules (swipe fingerprint modules), etc. according to its fingerprint recognition methods. The working principles of different types are as follows:
Optical fingerprint module: It utilizes the principles of light refraction and reflection. Light is emitted from the bottom towards a prism and then exits through the prism. The refraction angles of the emitted light on the uneven ridges of the fingerprint on the finger surface and the brightness of the reflected light will vary. Optical devices such as CMOS or CCD collect picture information of different brightness levels to complete fingerprint collection.
Semiconductor fingerprint module: Whether it is capacitive or inductive, the principles are similar. On a “flat plate” integrated with thousands of semiconductor devices, when a finger is placed on it, the finger forms the other side of the capacitor (inductor). Since the finger surface is uneven, the actual distances between the convex points and concave points of the finger and the flat plate are different, resulting in different capacitance/inductance values. The device collects the fingerprint by aggregating the different values it has collected.
Radio Frequency Fingerprint Module: It utilizes the biological radio frequency fingerprint recognition technology. The sensor emits a tiny amount of radio frequency signals by itself, penetrates the epidermis of the finger to detect the inner – layer patterns, so as to obtain the best fingerprint image. It has a strong anti – counterfeiting ability for fingerprints. It only reacts to human dermis skin, which can eliminate the problem of artificial fingerprints.
Traditional fingerprint recognition modules are often bulky and inflexible. However, the two – layer fingerprint recognition FPC can be customized according to the shape and size of the device, achieving a more fitting and aesthetically pleasing design. Meanwhile, the flexibility of the FPC can improve the durability and impact resistance of the device to a certain extent.
The two-layer structure can provide more complex circuit wiring and can carry more signal transmission lines and functional modules, which helps to improve the accuracy and speed of fingerprint recognition. Moreover, it may perform better in aspects such as electromagnetic shielding and signal interference suppression, thereby enhancing the stability and reliability of the fingerprint recognition system.

Access control system: In places such as enterprises, public institutions, and residential communities, the fingerprint recognition FPC access control system can effectively improve security.
Computer Login: It can be used for computer login, enabling users to bid farewell to the cumbersome password input process.
